This morning, Borough President Scott Stringer, joined by Go Green! Lower East Side and community groups, announced the start of the Model Block Project, a new program to turn one block of the Lower East Side into a model for energy conservation.

Today Borough President Stringer held a press conference with Assemblymembers Linda Rosenthal and Micah Kellner and animal advocates, urging New York City to completely restructure NYC Animal Care and Control (AC&C)--and to honor its promise to build full-service animal shelters in all five boroughs. These goals were outlined in a popular online petition the Borough President sent out earlier this week, and which has received more than 2,500 signatures in two and a half days.

Last night Borough President Scott Stringer hosted his 4th Annual Iftar Dinner. This event, which drew 150 people, brought together Muslims and non-Muslims from around New York City to say evening prayers, break the Ramadan fast, and honor individuals and organizations.
On Wednesday, August 4, Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer was joined at Union Settlement by his super friends, the Super Sprowtz, to teach over 200 children about the healthy eating, fitness, and sustainability. Standing with the Borough President were Erica Eggplant, Colby Carrot, Zach Zucchini, Brian Broccoli and Suzy Sweetpea, whose superpowers come from their nutritional composition.

Last night, Borough President Stringer joined law enforcement officers and citizens in participating in National Night Out.
