
Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer joined Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Assemblymember Powell, Councilmember Mark-Viverito and community based organizations in East Harlem at a peace march to raise awareness about the rise in violence that takes place in the community, most recently noted by the three May 26th stabbings.

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, along with Buyers and Renters United to Save Harlem (BRUSH) held an NYC Pinnacle Tenants Class Action Forum on Sunday, May 23rd, 2010 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Oberia Dempsey Center Auditorium.
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the contributions of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans. Last night, Borough President Scott Stringer hosted the “APA Public Service Awareness Forum and Community Justice Awards Ceremony” to honor the progress made by MinKwon Center for Community Action and the Museum of Chinese in America.

Following a groundbreaking ceremony for new, modern facilities which will house two East Side public schools, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer congratulated Schools Chancellor Joel Klein and the Department of Education on their success in expanding the public school system during tight financial times.

In response to racist comments made by Tea Party Express Chairman Mark Williams, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, along with Comptroller John Liu, State Senator Daniel Squadron, City Councilmembers Margaret Chin and Robert Jackson, and community and religious leaders held a press conference today to denounce the leader’s harsh words.

Happy 100th Birthday to the Madison Avenue Bridge! On May 12, Manhattan Borough President Stringer and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz met mid-span to celebrate this historic centennial celebration.

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, joined by the Buyers and Renters United to Save Harlem (BRUSH), and several West Harlem tenants (who in 2007, filed a lawsuit against the Pinnacle Group LLC and its chief executive Joel Wiener), to announce that a “Class Action Classroom” will be held for current and former Pinnacle tenants from across the 5 boroughs on May 23rd.
