Stop 'N’ Swap Your Reusable Items
by: Clarissa Wei | 3/10/2010

Stop and swap your reusable and wearable items at the Stop 'N’ Swap event at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center located in the Lower East Side on March 21st from 11 am to 3 pm. It’s the perfect opportunity to get rid of unwanted items, find free items, and prevent unnecessary waste.

Stop 'N’ Swap events provide an opportunity for someone else in the community to receive a needed item for free. The program is designed to have community residents bring items they were planning to throw out (books, house wares, TVs, small appliances, etc.) that can be reused or given to someone else.

Organized in conjunction with the Go Green Initiative, a program launched by Borough President Scott Stringer in 2007, the Stop 'N’ Swap Events are geared towards greening Manhattan neighborhoods and reversing decades of environmental degradation. The Office of Recycling Outreach and Education coordinates the event.

Items left at the end of the day will be donated or recycled for reuse.
